Charley and Robert (Bob) On April 3, 1882, After breakfast, Charlie, Robert Ford and Jesse James went into the living room before heading out to a robbery. After reading the newspaper, Jesse walked across the living room, but turned around and noticed a dusty picture above the mantle. Seeing this, he stood on a chair to clean it. At this moment, Robert Ford pulled his gun and shot Jesse James in the back of his head.
